HB1395 was voted 15-2 as ought to pass with amendment by the House Municipal and County Government Committee. This bill allows portable document format files for long term records. The amendment changes this phrase:
paper, microfilm, a portable document file, or [
both] all 3
to this phrase:
,] or microfilm, or [ both] stored in portable document format on a medium from which it is readily accessible
The report on the bill from the committee was written by Rep. David Bickford:
The bill allowed municipalities to store records in a portable document format (PDF) as well as paper and microfilm. The amendment allows such storage in PDF format on a medium from which it is readily accessible, as well as paper and microfilm. PDF documents can be stored at significantly less cost compared to the physical space for paper.
This bill now goes to the full House for a vote on the consent calendar on March 9, 2016.
