SB149 was voted inexpedient to legislate by the House and appeared to be killed. But, it came back to life as an amendment to HB142. HB142 originally just dealt with students and social media. On April 30, 2015, Sen. Bradley offered a floor amendment that tacked on the language of SB149 onto the end of HB142. The amendment passed by a voice vote in the Senate. The amended bill then went back and forth through a conference committee before it was approved by both the House and the Senate. Governor Hassan allowed the bill to become law without her signature. The law is chapter 270 of this year’s session and it took effect September 1, 2015.
